From 2013 to 2016, I was the unit photographer on a documentary about Seattle’s drag scene. I knew pretty much nothing about drag shows before then (I’d seen a couple of RuPaul episodes in passing), but I’m always down to help celebrate vibrant, performative, inclusive communities. It was an amazing experience. The pics here are some of my fav moments of queens and kings at work and at play.
Gig notes. All images were cropped to 16 x 9 to match the widescreen framing of the video footage. Cameras were a mix of Canon (5D/6D/7D) and Fuji (X-Pro2 and X100S). Lenses included an old-as-dirt Canon FD 135mm f/2.5.
